Bucerias Cobblestone Brigade Out In Force

Robert:

For several years the side streets in the Zona Dorada (Golden Zone) neighborhood of Bucerias have been in bone-jarring condition, with thousands of threatening potholes. Some blocks looked as if they had been cluster bombed, and were really a trial to navigate without seriously damaging your vehicle or having the fillings fly out of your teeth.

The irony was that this tourist zone was in much worse repair than many areas of the support communities of San Jose or San Vicente or Valle Banderas. Although it was good to see the city spending money on those inland communities as well.

But the municipality has now directed funds in this direction, and crews have been painstakingly repairing the cobblestone streets block by block. What a relief...and a big Gracias! to the ayuntamiento (city hall).

Driving Through Nuevo Vallarta Out To Hwy 200

Robert:

I was leaving an attractive house in Nuevo Vallarta's canal area yesterday, and driving through the neighborhood and out to hiway 200, to return to Bucerias. Everything is maximum green right now, and there was good afternoon light, so I shot some video to give you a bit of a tour of the area.

If you have never driven around in Nuevo Vallarta's canal home area, you might be surprised at what's there; beautiful, mature landscaping; nice homes on the canals, many with private docks. It's a tranquil, tropical suburbia.

Notice the Carl's Junior hamburger place on the right as you approach the highway 200 overpass? In that same little strip mall is a Subway, a Wing's Army, and a Tower Pizza; American cultural hegemony running rampant.

Yesterday, about 6:30 p.m. The brighter of the two was visible as a complete arch.

This lasted a long time. The first photo was taken as I was leaving Mega; the second a while later from near my house.



An evening of thunder and cooling rain followed. Off and on through the night. Nice.
